Materials

  • Yellow, white and black yarn
  • Embroidery floss
  • White and black felt
  • E/4 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Polyester fiberfill

ch: chain
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
inc: increase
dec: decrease
st(s): stitch(es)

Basics

Egg Shell

Use white yarn.

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).

Round 3: 2 sc in each st around (24).

Round 4-9: 1 sc in each st around (24).

Round 10: { (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) in 1 st, (1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in 1 st, 1 dec } x 6 (42).

Fasten off and sew in the tail.

Egg Yolk

Use yellow yarn.

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).

Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) x 6 (18).

Round 4: (1 sc, 1 inc) x 9 (27).

Round 5-15: 1 sc in each st around (27).

You can start stuffing your yolk and check if it fits into the shell.
Adjust the pattern at round 5-15 if it doesn’t fit.

Round 16: (2 sc, 1 dec) x 6, 3 sc (21).

Round 17: (1 sc, 1 dec) x 7 (14).

Round 18: 1 dec in each st around (7).

Fasten off and sew in the tail.

Arms

Make 2, use yellow yarn.

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).

Fold the piece in half and sew both sides together.

Legs

Make 2, use yellow yarn.

Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring (4).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (8).

Round 3-4: 1 sc in each st around (8).

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Top Shell

Use white yarn.

Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12).

Round 3: 2 sc in each st around (24).

Round 4: 1 sc in each st around (24).

Round 5: { (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) in 1 st, (1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in 1 st, 1 dec } x 6 (42).

Fasten off and sew in the tail.

Assembly

Sew the arms and legs onto the body and shell.

Use black yarn to create the eyes.

You can use black and white felt to create the mouth. Or you can crochet it as below:

Mouth

Use white embroidery floss.

Round 1: Ch 5 (5).

Round 2: 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook (4).

Fasten off and sew or glue the mouth onto the yolk.

Sew or glue black embroidery floss around the mouth.

Tadaa~ now you have an amigurumi gudetama!
